Due to the painful returns process, idiotic returns policy, and being made to feel like a criminal for having a return we will shop at Menards or Walmart or Amazon for our home improvement needs.

I'm sorry, but maybe if you have so much theft, you should hire a loss prevention team or enough people to actually help people when they need it. People can't steal if they are being helped.
It was like pulling teeth and I was told they couldn't do anything about the in store cards and they had to do them because of how much theft the store has had.
So after spending several thousands of dollars at Lowe's over the last year, we will no longer be shopping there.

The edger had issues and I took it back in. Rather than just give me a credit then, they sent it off for two weeks only to have the repair center call me and say they should have just credited it back to me two weeks ago.
Very nice store. Bathroom was so clean.
So due to not liking the edger and not finding what I did what I wanted, they gave me a gift card. Or I thought it was a gift card. It was actually a "in store credit" which was non-transferable, in that store only, and may required an ID.

The specific incident started because I purchased a Troy Built lawn edger for $250 and the 2 year extended replacement plan.
But I went with it because I didn't know at the time and have shopped there a lot. The following week we decided to buy some lawn care items and lawn chair pads, etc. Well after deciding to just let TruGreen do our lawn, they would only let the return be on that in store credit card. Even though I also paid on our debit card for the new items as well as the previous gift card.
There are helpful employees at the pro desk but the only thing Lowe's is professional at is loading you up with damaged drywall. Seriously, everytime.
